Patty Groves

Hello!  I am an English teacher! I was born and raised in Calgary, but I graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2010 with a B.A./B.Ed.   Once I graduated, I got a bad case of the travel bug, so I worked at a petting farm for a few months in order to save enough money to spend  12 weeks backpacking across  13 different countries!!   When I came back home, I immediately moved to Medicine Hat for my first teaching job in 2011, and have been here ever since!  I absolutely love teaching English because it allows me to combine my passion for literature, the humanities, and our diverse world all into one.

In my spare time, when I am not reading or marking, I have a number of other passions.  I love to run, travel, garden, or walk my dog, Scarlett. (While I have occasionally been known to binge-watch seasons on Netflix, I won’t actually admit this.)  I am also a certified yoga teacher, so I spend a lot of extra time on my yoga mat, where I continue to learn, train and gain experience.

I am inspired on a daily basis by my students, and I am also grateful for the opportunity to, in turn, inspire and help my students succeed in their world.
