Hello My Name Is...

Chad Watson

I am honoured to be a part of the Medicine Hat High School teaching staff for the past ten years. During this time I have been fortunate enough to be teaching in the Physical Education program. I graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2004 with a combined degree in Bachelor of arts, Bachelor of Education. I spent my first three years of teaching in Stirling, AB. I came to Medicine Hat in the fall of 2007. I grew up two hours away in Havre, Montana and came to Canada in 1999 on a basketball scholarship at the Medicine Hat College. My passion is basketball, which led me to the coaching for the past fifteen years. My coaching career started as a student assistant at the University of Lethbridge. After that I coached three years at Stirling as the senior boys basketball coach. When I moved to Medicine Hat I took over as the senior boy's basketball coach. I have also co-created the Outlaws basketball program with Derek Groves, which is a spring community basketball program that started with eleven athletes and now has over ninety boys and girls athletes playing spring basketball. I have two children who play for me in these programs - Abrielle Watson who is transitioning into grade eight and Trey Watson who is also heading into grade six. My wife, Christal Watson is also a teacher in our school district who teaches grade one teacher at Webster Niblock School. Our family is very active in sports, camping, hiking and traveling.
