My teaching journey started when I set off after graduation seeking adventure and challenge. I was offered a job teaching English Language Arts in Kuwait immediately after I graduated from the Education program at the University of Alberta. With wanderlust in my feet and my sights set on learning all sorts of new things about the world jetted overseas with my life in two suitcases. It was an experience that would shape me into the teacher I am today. That journey extended to working in Kuwait for two years teaching ELA and other courses such as creative writing and business communications, and eventually led me to working in Kazakhstan teaching English as a Language to third language learners. Overseas, I learnt so many new things about different cultures and ideas, new ways of communicating and how to talk without speaking the same language as someone. I bring my experience into my classroom and share it with my students in the hopes of bringing new perspectives into their lives.

History and English are my passions, you can always find me with my nose in a book. Right now I am really enjoying “Oryx and Crake” by Margaret Atwood and “What I talk about Running” by Haruki Murakami novels. Please come talk to me about books! I am a
lways happy to recommend some of my old and new favorites.

When I am not teaching, you can find me planning my next adventure, at the gym, working with the girls rugby team, Ski patrolling at Hidden Valley or singing in the Medicine Hat College Adult Choir.

This year at Medicine Hat High School, I have been teaching English 20-2, Social Studies 20-2. Career and Life Management and Art 10.
