About Me

MHHS Drama is one of the city's longest running theatre programs. Our Drama students have been entertaining audiences from all over southern Alberta with professional quality shows and in depth Theatre programming. This program is truly unique in Medicine Hat; at this school, our mission is to embrace theatre tradition and explore innovation in the arts.
Students in this program work very hard to bring theatre to life for the school and community. From thought-provoking productions to zany musicals; from classical plays to fostering new Canadian stories, MHHS Drama continues to support the creation of Theatre in Medicine Hat. Audiences are immersed in a theatre experience that is innovative, entertaining and reflective of the community.

Mr. Grafton has been teaching Theatre and Dramatic Arts at Medicine Hat High School since 2012. Previous to this, he taught for four years at Bearspaw Christian School in Calgary, and Vauxhall Elementary in Vauxhall Alberta. He received a combined degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge in 2007. He also attended the theatre education program at Red Deer College, and Taylor University College in Edmonton. His hometown is Onoway, Alberta, where he graduated from OHS in 1997.

Mr. Grafton also established the Pilot Lights Theatre Festival, the South East Alberta High School One Act Festival. He has also organized SKETCH comedy nights, and Whose Lunch Is It Anyway? Improv shows. While in Calgary, he was the Artistic Director of The Paperback Stage, a youth TYA company that specialized in stage adaptations of literature.
